Fixed dome cameras are one of several main types of security surveillance cameras used in video surveillance system. They can be manufactured using different technologies – analog, IP-based or IP-based mega-pixel but no matter of the technology used, they have one distinct feature that distinguished them from all other camera. They have discrete design, which makes them very suitable for public places – coffee shops, bars, restaurants. The whole idea in their design is to ensure maximum security protection for the visitors and the staff without the disturbing look of surveillance cameras. At such places, the discrete look of security systems is of great importance.

These security cameras, like infrared cameras, are made in various designs, provide different image quality and include fixed or varifocal lenses.

Fixed dome cameras, according to technology used, are analog, IP based or IP based mega-pixel. This is essential for recorded image quality.

Fixed dome cameras can be placed in domes, suitable for external installation, although this is not their usual area of installation.

Fixed or varifocal lenses are included in fixed dome cameras. The first one are easier to install and set-up, while the second type are not strictly bound with the security area because they have adjustable angle of view.

Bottom line – fixed dome cameras are easy for installation, have discrete design and are easy to maintain. On the other hand, they provide full characteristics of security camera – video image quality and reliability – qualities, which make them suitable as for large security system and for “Do it yourself” project.
